All about Freestyle Motocross
In case you’ve been hiding in a closet for the past few years, or have been hanging out in India or something, Freestyle Motocross is an extreme sport that is taking the world by storm. It’s often referred to, as well, as FMX or Moto-X. It’s becoming one of the most watched events at extreme sport competitions and is loved by everyone who participates in this extreme, adrenaline-inducing activity.

Freestyle motocross pays less attention to the speeds of the riders, and more attention to the amazing stunts that they perform on their bikes. These thrilling displays are usually demonstrated at about 150 feet in the air and combine suspense with acrobatics and danger.

Now, if you’re going to jump into freestyle motocross, you’ve got to make sure that you’ve got the right equipment – and that starts with having the right bike. A solo motocross bike usually has an engine ranging from 50cc to 550cc.

Two-stroke engines have more power and have replaced the four-stroke engines today. Obviously, the suspensions need to be amazing with these bikes, to deal with the high speeds and the sharp impacts that the bikes experience. Weight should be quite low on the bike as well, with somewhere between 200 and 250 pounds. These bikes are generally made of aluminum and magnesium and don’t include any extra features such as kickstands, speedometers, lights and more.
Freestyle Motocross bikes usually have a distinct look to them, as the riders have altered the bikes to fit their purposes. They’ll have shaved seats to allow for a wider range of movement, rear fenders that are cut to prevent them from getting in the way of tricks, and handle bars in strategic locations for grabbing while doing tricks.
